We carried out a training program for the sustainable collection and protection of Çiriş herb (local name Gulbik), which is traditionally traded by the local people, in 4 villages located in the impact area of Alpaslan 2 DAM.

In the first week, the ecological importance of Çiriş herb, correct collection techniques and the negative effects that excessive harvesting can cause were shared with the participants in theoretical trainings held in condolence houses in the villages. The importance of protecting the plant for future generations was emphasized in the training held with the active participation of the villagers.

In the second week, how Çiriş herb can be collected sustainably was demonstrated in the field as part of practical trainings. The participants had the opportunity to learn on-site how to harvest the leaves without damaging the roots of the plant.

This activity aims to contribute to the protection of biodiversity in the region and to support the continuity of the economic source of income from the local people.
